De Bonte Koe

Fall of 2024 - Ongoing

B Corp certification, GHG accounting & sustainability implementation

Handmade (and viral) chocolate

De Bonte Koe is a family-owned artisanal chocolate maker in Schiedam and Rotterdam, known for their handmade creations. You might know them from their viral Kunefe pistachio bar from last summer (Monica Geuze, anyone?).

Chocolate on a mission

Their mission is clear: to make the tastiest and most sustainable handmade chocolate in the Netherlands while having a positive impact on people and the environment. De Bonte Koe aspires to be an example for other artisanal family businesses, proving that tradition and innovation can go hand in hand.

Maxine's rescue service

Last summer, Maxine helped De Bonte Koe achieve their B Corp certification, a milestone that highlights their commitment to sustainability. She wrote their impact report, shaped their sustainable cacao sourcing strategy, and measured their greenhouse gas emissions. She also supported the company through Fairtrade audits and help integrate sustainability principles more deeply into their day-to-day operations.
