Highly detailed and dynamic calculation model to determine impact on festivals
We built a Dynamic Carbon Footprint Calculator that evaluates the CO2-impact of various serving options, including plastic cups, reusable hard cups with deposit systems, bioplastics, and aluminum or PET packaging. Using a life cycle analysis approach, the tool accounts for the entire supply chain, from production to waste management.
We incorporated dynamic parameters to adapt the tool to the specific characteristics of each festival, such as the number of attendees, festival duration, and waste collection systems. This way, insights could be tailored to every scenario.
We regret to say that doing field research by attending festivals was not part of the assignment (although this does not stop us from attending many festivals in our free time).
